- Judging Criteria:Awards are made based on each applicants academic ability, career plans, and individual qualifications, with emphasis on leadership and communication skills.

- Essay:Applicants 500word personal essay The applicants personal and professional goals, and how those goals relate to a career in public service, as well as a description of any classes, volunteer experiences, extracurricular activities, and/or employment experiences which have prepared the nominee for a career in public service.
- Recommendation Letters:Each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member and one from a nonfaculty member.
- Other Materials:Calculated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) reported on the (current) 20152016 FAFSA or the 20162017 FAFSA (if available).
