Scholarships for Volunteerism
Giving your time and talents to pitch in for people and organizations in need is the right thing to do – not to mention the fact that volunteering provides a great sense of personal satisfaction. And there's an added benefit: Your volunteerism may help you pay for college. There are several scholarships for volunteerism, many of them administered by philanthropic foundations. While some of these scholarships have a minimum GPA requirement, the main eligibility factors tend to be volunteerism, leadership and community service. To that point, the application process for many of them includes submitting a personal essay and letters of recommendation. These scholarships tend to be reserved for high school seniors who are poised to graduate and head to an accredited institution.
