Scholarships for Veterans
If you’re a United States veteran, you can be rewarded for your brave service long after you’ve left the military. In addition to other benefits for veterans, you may also be eligible for one or more college scholarships. So, if you’re a veteran looking for ways to cover the cost of your degree, you may want to consider applying for a scholarship. Some scholarships are provided by the Federal government, such as the Montgomery G.I. Bill and the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill. Others are funded by national organizations such as the AMVET National Scholarship Program, the Military Order of the Purple Heart Scholarship, the Troops to Teachers Program, the Pat Tillman Foundation and the American Legion. Additionally, more scholarships can be found at individual colleges and universities such as Michigan State University, De Anza College and Grantham University. Requirements vary from scholarship to scholarship, but potential recipients will generally need to provide proof of their military service, meet a minimum grade point average and submit official transcripts.
