Scholarships for Special Education Majors

If you're seeking a challenging but rewarding career teaching children with special needs, you must first complete an undergraduate or possibly a graduate degree program. You can meet the equally challenging job of paying for your education by being awarded one of many scholarships offered in this area. In addition to scholarships funded by specific colleges and universities offering degree programs in special education, scholarships are funded by foundations, nonprofit organizations and professional teaching associations. Some states provide special education scholarships through state supported student aid or student assistance commissions. Requirements for some of these scholarships could include the agreement that the recipient will teach special education in a specific state for a specified number of years. Most scholarship applications are available online and many require that students submit their GPA (typically at least a 3.0 is required) as well as letters of recommendation and references. Use the list below to find out how you can make obtaining an education degree more affordable by receiving one of these special education scholarships.
