Scholarships for Social Work Majors
Social work is a noble calling. And there are many private endowments, professional associations, academic institutions and governments funds that provide scholarships to encourage and reward people who seek to help others as social workers. Often, these scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a certain subspecialty of social work, such as mental health, child welfare or substance abuse. To apply, students may have to submit letters of recommendation and an essay. They also may need to demonstrate their leadership abilities, as well as detail their past community service. Some scholarships for social work majors are available to graduating high school majors who have been accepted into a social work program. Others are reserved for students already enrolled in college. In some instances, applicants must meet a minimum GPA requirement and demonstrate financial need to be eligible.
