Scholarships for Puerto Rico Residents

If you call Puerto Rico home or are of Latino descent, you can find many scholarship opportunities available to you to help you fund your postsecondary education. Many of these awards are funded by corporations, professional organizations or associations, such as the Hispanic College Fund, the ¡Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund and the American Library Association. The Hispanic College Fund is a large source of scholarships for Puerto Rican students and offers awards of $500 to $5,000 to high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students, and those attending community college. While many of these programs do not require that students reside in Puerto Rico, they do require that candidates be of Puerto Rican heritage. Requirements for these scholarships vary and could include academic excellence, GPA (usually at least 2.5), letters of recommendation, personal essays and financial need. Some colleges and universities also offer scholarships for Hispanic students; these awards could include such requirements as enrollment status or specific area of study. Use the list below to find out more about scholarships awarded to Hispanic students or Puerto Rico residents.
