Scholarships for Language Majors
A degree in languages can take graduates far and wide – after they’ve completed their studies and managed to pay for them, of course. Which is where scholarships can come in handy, and luckily there are a number of scholarships awarded specifically to students of languages. Many universities with language programs offer university-specific scholarships to enrolled students. National professional and nonprofit organizations also provide opportunities for language students to pay for their school and gain experience, sometimes even abroad. To apply for one of these scholarships, you will need to provide a transcript, and you will probably have to have a GPA of at least a 3.0, perhaps higher. Some scholarships are awarded based on financial need, and others are for minority students or other groups. Use the list below to see what scholarships are out there.
