Scholarships for Catholics
If you are of the Catholic faith and planning to attend a college or university, you should know that there are many scholarships available to you based on your religious affiliation. These funds are primarily offered through Catholic churches and universities. There are also privately-funded scholarships available to Catholic students. The Catholic University of America, the University of the Catholic Church, funds several scholarships; eligibility requirements vary, but these are mainly merit-based. Donor-sponsored scholarships are also available, through direct application for these is not an option. Other Catholic schools, such as Aquinas College and St. Thomas University, also fund scholarship programs. Faith-based and community foundations, associations and societies are other sources of scholarships for Catholics. The typical range for these awards is $1,500 - $3,000 and usually require that students, in addition to being members of a Roman Catholic Church, possess a GPA between 2.5-3.0, show financial need, submit personal essays and demonstrate community service involvement.
