Scholarships for Broadcast Journalism Majors
There are many scholarships available to you if you are interested in entering a degree program in broadcast journalism. Many awards are sponsored by journalism foundations and associations, such as the BMI Foundation, Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), Broadcast Education Association (BEA), Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association (MBJA) and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ). Some awards are open to high school seniors, while others require that students are already enrolled in a broadcast journalism program. Eligibility requirements vary and can include academic achievement, need and GPA (usually 3.0), in addition to letters of recommendation and personal essays. Some programs ask for experience in the field and request that students audio or video work samples. Many universities offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in this area also offer scholarships. Academic performance and financial need are usually among the eligibility requirements for school-based awards.
