Scholarships for Native Americans

While some organizations award scholarships for students’ academic or athletic success, others use them to celebrate cultural or ethnic heritage. There is a wide variety of such scholarships available to students of Native American heritage. Some of these scholarships are open to members of all minority groups, while others are specifically for Native American students. The awarding organizations may consider other factors besides ethnic background, such as attaining a certain GPA (often above a 2.5), pursuing a specific course of study, having a financial need, or demonstrating an interest or involvement in Native American cultural heritage. Applications for many of these scholarships require potential recipients to provide academic transcripts, complete federal financial aid forms and submit a personal essay.
