Scholarships for Journalism Majors
Good journalists deal in facts. And there's one fact that every journalism major has to come to terms with: Getting a degree in journalism can be an expensive undertaking. Luckily, there is no shortage of scholarships that aim to ease the financial burden on journalism students. Some of these are offered by local community foundations, but most come from newspapers, professional journalism organizations and private foundations committed to an enduring Fourth Estate. To be eligible for these, applicants may need to be enrolled in an accredited journalism program, have a decent academic record and have a financial need. An essay, personal statement or samples of journalistic work also may be requested through the application process.
