Scholarships for Good Citizenship
Academic performance is not all that matters when it comes to qualifying for scholarships. Good citizenship scholarships reward students who have demonstrated honesty, leadership, compassion and other such qualities. Many scholarships for good citizenship are offered by local nonprofit foundations, such as Indiana's Hancock County Community Foundation and the Ventura County Community Foundation in California. For some of these scholarships, applicants must be nominated by someone else. Some good citizenship scholarships include a minimum GPA requirement, while others only take an applicant’s personal characteristics into consideration. An essay and letters of recommendation may be required to apply. In some cases, applicants may have to demonstrate financial need.
