Scholarships for Computer Science Majors
Demand for qualified technology professionals, such as computer programmers, Web developers and network architects, continues to rise year after year. To encourage students to pursue careers like these, many professional organizations, companies and nonprofit groups have increased their scholarship offerings for computer science majors. Some scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors who plan to major in computer science at 2- and 4-year accredited institutions. Others are reserved for students already enrolled in college-level computer science programs. Many of these scholarships are merit-based and may require proof of a GPA above 3.0, along with above-average test scores and participation in relevant extracurricular activities. In some cases, however, applicants may also need to show financial need. Applications also often require students to submit letters of recommendation and an essay.
