The scholarship was established in 1992 to honor Ms. Ruby J. Darensbourg-Cook for his commitment to education and the livelihood of children. It is available to those who are pursuing certification program in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education approved by the Louisiana Department of Education and have completed at least half of the Certification Program course hours.
