The scholarship was established to honor Ron Harder for his thirty-three years of service to the Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, to provide post-secondary education to high school graduates in Appleton Area School District High Schools, Fox Valley Lutheran, St. Francis Xavier, Freedom, Hortonville, Kaukauna, Kimberly, Little Chute, Neenah, St. Mary Central and Menasha, pursuing a degree in geology or a graduate degree in gemology at GIA.
