This scholarship is available to all Kansas high school students who have distinguished themselves in the field of music and/or who will major or minor in music at an approved Kansas junior college, college, or university.

  • Age/Grade Level:
    Must be high school senior or college level freshmen or sophomore
  • Financial Need:
    Required
  • Other Academic Requirements:
    The applicant must have a distinguished background in the field of music; Must be an average or better student scholastically; Must obtain at least a "C" average to be eligible for second and final grant installment
  • Residence:
    Applicant must be a Kansas resident
  • College:
    Must be enrolled or intend to enroll in an approved Kansas Jr. College, College or University
  • Major/Career:
    Must be studying in Music
  • Miscellaneous:
    Applications must be received in The American Legion Headquarters, 1314 Topeka Ave., Topeka, KS 66612; Applicant must state on the application the reason for applying, including financial need, college plans, together with any other pertinent data which might help the Committee in making its selection.

    Applicant must provide three letters of reference. Only one from the applicants music instructor or teacher.
  • Other Materials:
    Must submit a recent photo must accompany application (black and white or good color contrast) to be use for publicity purposes only; Submit the latest 1040 income statement of supporting parent(s).
