Maynard Institute for Journalism Education Fellowships for Editing Program
Dow Jones Newspaper Fund
This fellowship is a six-week immersion program that will teach journalists everything from the basics of headline writing, grammar, page design and story organization to developing news judgment and the interpersonal skills that enable editors to work successfully with reporters and other editors. This program consists of in-depth classes and hands-on drills taught by leading practitioners at the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. Funded by a grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The fellowship is open to journalists working for a U.S.-based newspaper with a circulation of 50,000 or below. This program has produced effective newsroom leaders of all races who promote team work, introduce and manage change, and improve the quality of journalism.

- Essay:Two essays:The first essay should be about 500 words long. In this essay, please discuss your professional career to date. Describe your most significant accomplishments. Also describe how participation in the Multimedia Editing Program will assist you in achieving your career goals.The second essay should be 750 to 1,000 words long analysis of the paper/website you work for. Please describe how well, according to you, the paper/website covers the needs of its community.
