Lee's passion for the arts and desire to help others was recognized through this scholarship. The estate of Bessie started this scholarship to benefit graduates of Hancock County high schools who have been accepted to study music in a college or conservatory.

- Judging Criteria:Personal statement, musical performances outside of the school setting,extracurricular activities, and academic performance are the basis for choosing a recipient of this award. Financial need may also be considered.

- Essay:500-word essay describing why you want to study music
- Recommendation Letters:Two letters of recommendation, obtained through the recommendations section on the online application, regardless of how many scholarships to which you plan to apply. Recommendations may not be written by family members, school administrators, or guidance counselors.
