Dr. Merritt C. Olson Scholarship was established nu Dr. Olson to help support a student of West High School in pursuing a higher education. The applicant must demonstrate academic motivation and success to qualify. The program provides a $2,500 yearly fund that can be renewed up to 4 years.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age/Grade Level:
    The applicant must be a graduating high school senior.
  • Minimum GPA:
    3.0
  • Financial Need:
    Required
  • Other Academic Requirements:
    Applicant must be enrolled full-time in an institute of higher education for the upcoming academic year.
  • Character Traits:
    Applicant should demonstrate leadership qualities, evidenced through extracurricular and community involvement and letters of recommendation.
  • School:
    Applicant must be a graduating West High School senior.
  • Major/Career:
    Preference will be given to applicants who intend to pursue a career in education, specifically as either a math, history or English teacher or as a guidance counselor.
