The David E. Knox Memorial Nursing Fellowship was established in memory of David Knox. The fellowship provides a fund of up to $2,500 to support an applicant in a nursing degree-seeking program. The awardee must have a commitment to a 1-year service obligation to practice nursing in a small community in Alaska.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age/Grade Level:
    The applicant must be an undergraduate stduent.
  • Minimum GPA:
    3.0
  • Financial Need:
    Preferred
  • Other Academic Requirements:
    Applicant must have completed prerequisites for a nursing (BSN or RN) degree-seeking program and must be enrolled full-time in that program by the beginning of the next academic session or semester when the award will be used.
  • College:
    The award is available to nursing students in 2, 3, and 4-year programs, but favors those near completion.
  • Major/Career:
    The applicant must be pursuing a nursing (BSN or RN) degree-seeking program.
  • Miscellaneous:
    Applicant must commit to a 1-year service obligation to practice nursing in a small community in Alaska (less than 50,000 residents per current census figures). Preference will be given to those who wish to practice in operating rooms.
