Community Foundation of the Verdugos

This scholarship intends to support a student who will be continuing his/her education working toward a certificate, two-year, or four-year college degree from an accredited institution in a career technical field such as woodworking, auto mechanics, plumbing, landscaping, video graphics, information technology, business/finance, healthcare, electrical, cosmetology, culinary arts, and others. Recipients of this scholarship must reside and graduate in the service region of the Community Foundation of the Verdugos. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and must show an entrepreneurial aptitude, a potential for achievement and self-motivation.

  • Character Traits:
    Must show an entrepreneurial aptitude, a potential for achievement and self-motivation
  • College:
    Must be continuing his/her education working toward a certificate, two-year, or four-year college degree
  • Major/Career:
    Must pursue a career in technical fields such as woodworking, auto mechanics, plumbing, landscaping, video graphics, information technology, business/finance, healthcare, electrical, cosmetology, culinary arts, and others

  • Essay:
    In a personal essay on a separate sheet of paper, the student must discuss the importance of education, what motivates him or her, an entrepreneurial vision, perhaps even a plan/idea to implement during or after college in selected area of career technical study.
  • Recommendation Letters:
    Submit one Confidential Recommendation Letter. The letter may be from a recent teacher, coach, employer, or guidance counselor.
  • Other Materials:
    Attach a copy of the FAFSAs Student Aid Report (SAR) to your scholarship packet
