Scholarship America
Sponsored by the AXA Foundation, this scholarship is open to high school seniors who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. Applicants must be United States citizens or legal residents and must have demonstrated ambition and self-drive as evidenced by an outstanding achievement in a school, community, or workplace activity.

- College:Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States
- Miscellaneous:Special consideration is given to achievements that empower society to mitigate risk through education and/or action in areas such as financial, environmental, health, safety and/or emergency preparedness
- Other Benefits:For every student who wins a scholarship, a grant in the amount of $1,000 will be made to the winners school.
Application Details
- Judging Criteria:Primary consideration will be given to the applicants non-academic outstanding achievement as described in application essays when selecting finalists. The achievement may be a long-term achievement, an activity or a project that occurred in their school, in the community or in the workplace. Other extracurricular activities in school and community, work experience, and the applicant's academic record over the past four years will be considered when selecting finalists.Special consideration will be given to achievements that empower society to mitigate risk through education and/or action in areas such as financial, environmental, health, safety and/or emergency preparedness. Consideration will also be given to select a diverse group of recipients. Finalists will be notified by email and asked to submit further information including a current complete transcript of grades and an appraisal from an unrelated adult who is closely involved with your achievement and knowledgeable about your accomplishments. Primary consideration of recipients will be given to the finalists demonstrated achievement as reported on the application and supported by the appraisal completed by an adult who is not related to the applicant.

- Essay:Provide a brief overview which clearly conveys the impact of your one outstanding achievement. In three to four sentences, include what you did, who was affected, and what the outcomes were. (500 character limit); Describe your outstanding achievement in depth and provide the specific planning, training, goals, and steps taken to make the accomplishment successful. Include details about your role and highlight leadership you provided. Your essay must be a minimum of 350 words but not more than 600 words. Be thorough. (Limit: 4000 characters or approximately 600 words); What challenges or obstacles did you face? How did you meet those challenges? (Limit: 1000 characters or approximately 150 words); What impact did your achievement have on the community around you? Your description should include any ways in which your achievement empowered society to mitigate risk through education and/or action in areas such as financial, environmental, health, safety and/or emergency preparedness. (Limit: 1000 characters or approximately 150 words)
