American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA)

The AOSA Tap fund is entitled to AOSA members who are teachers of elementary and junior high school students of low-income populations.

    Resided in the United States of America for the past five years (or Citizen of the United States of America)
  • Citizenship:
    Citizen of the United States of America (or resided in the United States of America for the past five years)
  • Major/Career:
    Teachers of elementary and junior high school students
  • Organization:
    The applicant must be a current member of AOSA and must have been an AOSA member in good standing for one year prior to grant application review.
  • Other Benefits:
    The funds may be used for professional development, instruments, and other special creative projects that are associated with Orff Schulwerk and that will benefit the music education of children. Grant funds may not be used to pay for college credit.If funds are to be used for classroom instruments, a minimum of Level I training must have been completed prior to application.

  • Recommendation Letters:
    Professional Reference Letter Forms (page 6 of online form)Give a copy of the reference page to three people who are to write a letter on your behalf. Letters are due to AOSA headquarters on January 15. References may be uploaded to the online application, submitted via email to [email protected], or sent through standard mail to AOSA. Topics should include:(a) Relationship to the applicant(b) Knowledge of subject matter and teaching ability(c) Relationships with supervisors, colleagues, students(d) Work ethic: industry, follow-through, responsibility(e) Evidence of interest or past experience in working with students of low-income populations. Letters should be sent directly to AOSA Headquarters.
  • Portfolio/Work Samples:
    Project Description, 1-2 pages (page 2 of online form)Please describe the nature and purpose of this project, and its immediate and subsequent value to: 1) the low-income population you represent/teach, 2) to you, and 3) to AOSA. Make your statement as complete and concise as possible to help the committee in its evaluation of your request.
