Kalamazoo Community Foundation
This scholarship was established to benefit underrepresented minority students planning to pursue a degree in chemistry or chemistry-related fields. Applicants must be African American, Hispanic, or American Indian high school seniors or college freshman, sophomores, or juniors who are U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents. Students must also demonstrate academic ability, leadership ability, financial need and have participation in school activities and community service.

Eligibility Requirements
- Age/Grade Level:Graduating high school senior, college freshman, sophomore or junior
- Minimum GPA:3.0
- Financial Need:Required
- Other Academic Requirements:Be a full-time student at a high school or accredited college, university, or community college;Demonstrate high academic achievement in chemistry or science.
- Residence:Applicants must be a permanent resident (or a US citizen)
- Citizenship:Applicants must be a US citizen (or a permanent resident)
- College:Be a full-time student at a high school or accredited college, university, or community college
- Major/Career:Be a graduating high school senior, a college freshman, sophomore or junior intending to or already majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a chemical-related science OR intending to or already pursuing a degree in chemical technology; be planning a career in the chemical sciences
- Ethnicity:Applicants must be African American, Hispanic/Latino or American Indian
- Extracurricular:Participation in school activities and community service.

- Recommendation Letters:Two letters of recommendationAt least one recommendation must come from a faculty member in your field of study; the second recommendation should be from someone who knows you as a student, employee, or volunteer, and who can provide insight into your character, motivation, and ability to successfully complete a rigorous scientific course of study. Students may send original letters sealed by the recommender in an envelope to us by mail. (Recommenders only may email letters to [email protected])
