Alan L. Bryant Leadership Scholarship was established in honor of Alan Bryant who has been a principal of Western High School. With Mr. Bryants 38 years of dedicated service to the Bay City Schools, the 25th Student Council have offered this scholarship in his name as a showing of their gratitude.

- Essay:Write an essay describing your most meaningful achievement(s), how they relate to your future goals, and why you are deserving of a scholarship. The essay must be between 2,500-3,000 characters (spaces do count).In addition to the application, please attach answers to the following questions. Strongconsideration will be given to those applicants who put significant thought and effort into theirresponses.1. What life and career goals are you planning on pursuing? Discuss why you have chosenthese goals and what influences have affected your decisions.2. You have often heard of people making a difference. How have you attempted tomake a difference and how do you plan on making a difference in the future?3. Without naming the teacher, think of an educator you have come in contact with over thepast 13 years who has had a great impact on your life. Discuss the qualities of this teacherwho has made such a significant impact on you, and what lessons you have learned fromhim/her that will guide your own life.4. Noting that this is a leadership scholarship, why should this scholarship committee awardyou this honor? Please be sure to include what kind of leader you are, knowing that thereare many different successful leadership styles.
- Recommendation Letters:Two letters of recommendation at least one letter must be school-related and one letter may be personal or professional.
- Other Materials:A “portrait” of the applicant.; Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive free PELL grant information and your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number. The Michigan deadline for the 2016-2017 school year is March 1, 2016. To properly complete the FAFSA, you will need to file your 2015 income taxes as soon as you are able to. If you are a dependent, your parents must do the same. Be sure to file the 2016-2017 FAFSA. There are three forms of confirmation pages that can be accepted, but we only need one: the page that is displayed immediately after submission, the email that is sent to you after submission, or the first page of your Student Aid Report (SAR). Be sure to include your name on this page if it is not already on there.
